The roadmap for the expansion of the cabinet led by Nitish Kumar in Bihar is becoming clearer. This evening at four, the governor will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers of the Nitish Cabinet. Just before the cabinet expansion, Dilip Jaiswal resigned from his ministerial post. Dilip Jaiswal is also the president of the Bihar unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Confirming his resignation from the ministerial position, Dilip Jaiswal mentioned, "I am stepping down." He attributed his resignation to the BJP principle of one person, one post, and sidestepped questions about the cabinet expansion. The Bihar BJP president stated that the timing of the cabinet expansion is the prerogative of the Chief Minister.

In his resignation submitted to the Chief Minister, Dilip Jaiswal stated that he has willingly stepped down from the ministerial role. He was responsible for the Revenue and Land Reforms Department. The Nitish Kumar cabinet expansion is likely to occur today at 4 PM. In this expansion, seven ministers from the BJP quota will take the oath of office and secrecy.

Cabinet Secretary arrives at Raj Bhavan

The Cabinet Secretary of Bihar, S Siddharth, has arrived at Raj Bhavan. He carries the list of names who are to be sworn in as ministers. The list reportedly contains seven ministerial names. Cabinet Secretary S Siddharth will submit this list of potential ministers to the governor.

According to sources, in this first cabinet expansion of the election year, no minister will be appointed from the JDU quota. The Deputy CM of Bihar, Samrat Choudhary, has met CM Nitish Kumar at his residence to discuss the cabinet expansion. A meeting with BJP leaders regarding this was also held at Samrat Choudhary’s residence.

Names on the new ministerial list

The names of the seven ministers set to be sworn in from the BJP quota ahead of the Nitish Cabinet expansion have also come to light. This list includes Krishna Kumar Mantu, Vijay Mandal, Raju Singh, Sanjay Sarawgi, Jivesh Mishra, Moti Lal, and Sunil Kumar. There was also speculation about the names of former Deputy CM of Bihar Tarakishore Prasad and Dalit face Kavita Paswan. However, when the final list emerged, these two names were absent.
