The shocking case of the 26-year-old Nikki's murder for dowry in Greater Noida, near Delhi, has left everyone disturbed. In this terrifying incident, the police remain in proactive mode. After arresting husband Vipin Bhati, the police have also detained his mother, Dayawati. During an attempt to flee police custody, the accused husband was shot in the leg and is being treated at a local hospital.
The victim's family alleges that from the year 2016, after Nikki's marriage, she was relentlessly harassed for dowry. Initially, the in-laws demanded a Scorpio car and later a Bullet motorbike, which the family provided. However, soon after, they began demanding 3.6 million rupees in cash. It's alleged that when this demand wasn’t met, the in-laws orchestrated a ruthless plan to end Nikki's life.
A disturbing video of this incident went viral on social media, showing the accused husband, Vipin Bhati, and a woman brutally assaulting Nikki, dragging her by her hair. In another video, Nikki is seen severely burnt and falling down the stairs. She was rushed to the hospital but, tragically, succumbed to her injuries on Thursday night.
Encounter with Husband Vipin
On Saturday, Greater Noida Police arrested the accused husband Vipin Bhati. On Sunday, as the police were taking him for a medical examination and evidence collection, he attempted to escape by seizing an inspector's gun. The police pursued him and, in self-defense, fired a shot that hit his leg. Currently, the accused husband is hospitalized.
Mother-in-law Dayawati Arrested
On Sunday, acting on a tip-off, police arrested the accused's mother, Dayawati, near a hospital. The investigation revealed that her role was significant in Nikki's harassment and the murder conspiracy. According to the police, she incited her son and assisted in executing the crime. She had been absconding since the crime.

Testimonies of Sister and Son
Nikki's sister, Kanchan, who also married into the same family, recorded the entire incident on camera. She alleged that her husband and in-laws attacked Nikki's neck and head, followed by pouring acid on her. Eventually, they set her on fire in front of her young son. In trying to rescue her sister, Kanchan was also assaulted. The son has also testified in the case.
Father's Grief, Demand for Justice
Nikki's 6-year-old son said he saw his mother engulfed in flames, stating, "They poured something on my mom and then set her on fire with a lighter." Nikki's father, Bikhari Singh, lamented, "My daughter was killed by monsters. The mastermind is the mother-in-law. Instead of guiding her son, she encouraged him. Both deserve the death penalty. If strict action isn't taken by the authorities, we will go on a hunger strike."
Shameful Statement from the Accused
Even after the encounter, the attitude of the accused husband, Vipin Bhati, was shocking. From the hospital, Vipin remarked, "Fights between husband and wife are normal. I have no regrets. Nikki wasn't killed by me; she died herself." A case has been registered against the accused husband and his family under sections 103(1) (murder), 115(2) (causing injury), and 61(2) of the Indian Penal Code at Kasna Police Station.
