The National Green Tribunal (NGT) took the Delhi government to task, raising concerns about unauthorized industrial units around the national capital. NGT pressed the Delhi government with challenging questions regarding its promise to purify the Yamuna River's water within 100 days. NGT questioned, 'How can you achieve this when your authorities appear relaxed?'

NGT inquired how Delhi plans to halt the discharge of acids into Yamuna’s waters while unauthorized industries operate freely. If these units continue functioning without any action, it implies unofficial approval. According to reports, around 10 to 15 units are operating there. What actions are being taken against them? The tribunal strongly commented that unless you break into these operations, how would you know if any activity occurs inside?

NGT sternly remarked that numerous cases have exposed activities in supposedly closed units. In response, the Delhi government conveyed its inability to break locks, suggesting that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) should handle it. The tribunal criticized agencies shifting blame while such activities persist. Notably, NGT had ordered the Delhi government to ensure the cleaning of 24 drains by May 31st.
