In the city of Meerut, a family's life was spared, all thanks to their fearless pet dog, although it cost her life. At the stroke of midnight, a venomous snake entered the home. The vigilant dog spotted the intruder, engaged in a fierce battle, and barked loudly enough to awaken her family. Although the snake bit her multiple times, she bravely captured it in her jaws and refused to let go.
After a challenging struggle, the family securely trapped the snake in a plastic container and released it into the wild. The brave dog was rushed to the hospital where she received treatment, but sadly, she succumbed to her injuries the following day.

The incident occurred in the Ram Puri neighborhood of Dauraala, Meerut, on the night of May 2-3 at around 3 AM when a venomous snake entered farmer Kallu's house. The family was fast asleep, and his son was sleeping near the front gate. The snake's entry didn’t go unnoticed by Mini, the family's courageous pet dog. Mini confronted the snake, sustaining multiple bites. Her barking prompted the family to wake up and witness their heroic dog in a valiant standoff against the snake.
Despite the snake's repeated bites, Mini held the snake firmly in her grip. After a while, she fainted, but not before the family successfully contained the snake using an iron rod and trapped it in a plastic container, eventually freeing it in the forest.

Mini was taken to veterinary doctors, spending the next 27 hours hovering between life and death. Tragically, she did not survive, leaving her family deeply heartbroken. They reminisced about the time when Mini was brought home at less than a month old, cherished and beloved just like a family member.
Regarding the incident, Rajesh Kumar, DFO Meerut, confirmed that the pet dog's death resulted from a snake bite, identified as a Russell Viper. Unfortunately, no forest department official was informed. A thorough search will ensure no other vipers are present. Meanwhile, the public is advised to maintain a safe distance from wildlife and promptly report sightings to the forest department through police or district administration to safeguard both wildlife and communities.
