The architectural wonder of the Chenab Rail Arch Bridge, located 359 meters above the river, is the tallest railway arch bridge in the world. This bridge can withstand winds up to 260 km/h and remains stable in Seismic Zone-V areas. Constructed using 30,000 tons of steel and with a foundation spanning as wide as half a football field, the bridge has an expected life span of 120 years, allowing trains to travel at speeds up to 100 km/h.

The Chenab Bridge can endure earthquakes of up to 8 on the Richter scale, as well as withstand explosions equivalent to 40 tons of TNT. A significant impact of the bridge will be the enhanced connection between Jammu and Srinagar. The Vande Bharat train facilitates travel between Katra and Srinagar in approximately 3 hours, reducing current travel time by 2-3 hours.

Vande Bharat train fares are ₹715 for chair cars and ₹1320 for Executive Class (EC). These trains feature anti-freezing technology, a heating system for sub-zero conditions, 360-degree rotating seats, USB charging points, and include pure vegetarian meals with local dishes. The Vande Bharat train service begins for passengers on June 7th.

These trains will operate four times daily between Katra and Srinagar. Currently, their sole stop will be in Banihal, offering both chair car and Executive Class accommodations. Alongside a vegetarian menu, local culinary delights will also be served to passengers.
