New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani has strongly condemned the cowardly attacks on Muslim New Yorkers in the Bay Ridge neighborhood. Police have arrested Megan Horn, a 34-year-old resident of Staten Island, who is accused of committing hate crimes in three separate incidents on January 30. The accused allegedly assaulted a 12-year-old girl and two women, while making anti-Muslim remarks against them.
The first incident occurred around 2:30 PM, when a 33-year-old woman was kicked, followed by another instance where a 39-year-old woman was shoved while boarding a bus.
Mayor Mamdani stated, "Women and girls wearing hijabs often fall victim to such unacceptable violence. Islamophobia has no place in our city, and every Muslim citizen deserves to live with safety and respect."
