NEET in Court:
The Supreme Court has declined to suspend counseling or order an immediate CBI investigation during hearings of several petitions concerning the NEET examination. Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta have stated that an order for a CBI investigation cannot be issued without first hearing the other parties involved.
The Supreme Court Speaks on CBI Investigation
One of the four petitions discussed today called for a CBI investigation of the NEET exam paper leak. This petition made reference to large-scale leak incidents and alleged manipulations to secure preferred examination centers. For instance, students from states such as Odisha, Jharkhand, and Gujarat had allegedly chosen a specific center in Godhra, Gujarat, to appear for the NEET and reportedly bribed up to 10 lakhs to secure their choice.
The Supreme Court has issued notices to the NTA regarding the four distinct petitions and has requested a response within two weeks. Further hearings on these petitions will occur in conjunction with the main petition on 8th July. The court clearly stated it has not ordered re-examination for the 1563 students who received grace marks; it was NTA's decision to conduct the re-examinations.
