During a housing society meeting in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, five individuals allegedly attacked a 44-year-old woman, leaving her injured, as shared by police officials on Tuesday. An official revealed that housing society officers and the president were involved in the attack on Sunday at Rabale.
The official mentioned that the victim raised some questions during the meeting, which did not sit well with the accused. Allegedly, they verbally abused her, pushed her to the ground, and punched her multiple times. It was noted that the injured woman has been admitted to the hospital.
A case has been filed against the accused under Section 79 (words, gestures, or acts intending to insult the modesty of a woman), 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 189 (2) (unlawful assembly), and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
It's noteworthy that disputes over various issues are common within housing societies, with parking being one such contentious topic. A few months ago, in Surat, Gujarat, a dispute over parking led to a fatality. Members of one family attacked another, resulting in the death of a brother.
A video depicting the altercation also surfaced, showing scenes from Lakshmi Park Row House Society in the police station area. A car and bikes were parked in the lane of the society while people were attacking one another there. Some wielded sticks while others brandished cricket bats, visibly striking each other.
