Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has found a new home in franchise cricket following his unexpected exit from the Indian Premier League (IPL). The left-arm pacer is now set to grace the Pakistan Super League (PSL), marking this transition at a time when discussions were sparked between cricket boards and tournament organizers over his IPL release.
Released by KKR
Recently, Mustafizur was released by Kolkata Knight Riders upon the instruction of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to let go of Bangladeshi players. KKR had acquired Mustafizur during the IPL auction for a substantial 9.20 crore INR.
Mustafizur Set to Shine in Pakistani League
Soon after his IPL exit, the Pakistan Super League officially confirmed on their social media platforms that Mustafizur will play in the upcoming PSL season, with the draft yet to occur on January 21. This announcement marks his return to PSL after eight years, having previously played for Lahore Qalandars.
Mustafizur's transition to PSL comes amid uncertainties surrounding Bangladesh's participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled in India. The ICC has clarified that Bangladesh must participate in the World Cup in India.
Demand to Shift Sri Lanka Matches
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) cited tense diplomatic ties with India, objecting to sending their team to India and formally requested that their group stage matches be held in Sri Lanka. Currently, Bangladesh is scheduled to play three matches in Kolkata, including against the West Indies and England, with a match against Nepal slated for Mumbai.
