The relationship between a husband and wife is said to be based on love and trust. However, at times, bitterness can turn this bond into a catastrophic tragedy. Such an incident has emerged from Jagraon, in Ludhiana, Punjab, where a husband murdered his wife upon arrival in Canada. For two years, Balvinder Kaur had been living with her daughter in Canada, working hard and sending money back home.
Jagpreet Singh, her husband, longed to join her in Canada and pressured her to make it happen. A week before the incident, Balvinder had managed to bring Jagpreet to Canada. On the night of March 15, Jagpreet allegedly stabbed Balvinder, taking her life. After the act, he informed his mother of the event via a video call, confessing to the murder over the phone.
The family demands the daughter's body be returned
Balvinder Kaur's family in Malla village is in a state of shock, demanding strict action against the crime. They have also appealed to the Indian government to assist in bringing their daughter's remains back to Punjab. Balvinder Kaur's sister, Rajvinder Kaur, revealed that Balvinder and Jagpreet had been married since 2000 and are parents to two children.
Woman went to Canada to care for her daughter
Their daughter, Harnoorpreet Kaur, is 22 years old, and their son, Gurnoor Singh, is 18. Harnoorpreet had moved to Canada on a study visa about four years ago, but as her health deteriorated, Balvinder went to Canada in 2022 to take care of her. There, she worked at a store.
Husband also wanted to move to Canada
Rajvinder Kaur indicated that since Balvinder's move to Canada, Jagpreet became obsessed with joining her, constantly pestering her about facilitating his travel. Previously a driver, Jagpreet stopped working once Balvinder began sending money, which also led to arguments over finances.
