The mastermind behind the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, Tahawwur Rana, is now in India. The NIA court has placed him under an 18-day custody. During this period, the NIA will thoroughly question him on every facet of the Mumbai attacks.
Following a strategic assembly at the NIA headquarters with the DG and 12 special officials, the probing of Tahawwur Rana is set to begin. Insider sources reveal there's sophisticated surveillance in the interrogation room, boasting not one, but two high-definition cameras. The inquiry begins sharply at 11 AM.
Housed on the ground level of the NIA headquarters, Tahawwur remains in a customized cell. Situated just above, on the third floor, is the dedicated interrogation chambers. Leading this significant probe is DIG Jaya Roy, whose instrumental efforts ensured Rana's extradition from the USA to India. Daily progress reports from these sessions will circulate among the team members.
The National Investigative Agency will meticulously document each day's interactions in a probing diary through the duration of Rana's custody. Once the final interrogation phase concludes, his statement will be formally logged in the disclosure record. The framework of the BNS mandates a medical check-up of the accused every 48 hours.
