The incident unfolded near the Vashi check post, where the Mankhurd Police had set up a blockade. As part of their routine checks, police teams were examining vehicles passing through the area. On Friday night, a suspicious tempo truck drew attention as it crossed the Vashi checkpoint.
On a hunch, the police halted the vehicle for a thorough inspection. During the search, an enormous stash of silver was discovered, leaving even seasoned officers astounded. Weighing the silver revealed a total of 8,476 kilograms, with an estimated market value close to 80 crores.

Following this revelation, the responsible authorities interrogated the truck driver, placing him under custody. Immediately, the police informed both the Income Tax Department and the Election Commission's teams. Investigators from these entities are now striving to identify the true owner of the silver.
Preliminary investigations indicate a suspicion that this silver was being transported illegally, potentially to be employed in the electoral environment. Teams from the Income Tax Department and the Election Commission have launched a full-scale investigation to ascertain whether there is any legitimate documentation for the silver.
