The State Election Commission of Madhya Pradesh has released the draft list of the voter roll after a special intensive revision (SIR). This year's list reveals significant changes. A total of 4.274 million voters have been removed statewide. In just the capital city of Bhopal, over 438,000 names have been cut.

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) explained in a press conference that this effort aims to make the voter list completely error-free and transparent. Out of a total of 57.406 million voters, 53.131 million voters submitted their verification documents as part of the SIR process.

Primary Reasons for Name Removal

The CEO noted that 3.151 million voters (5.49%) were found to have either changed their address or been absent for a long time. Meanwhile, 846,000 (1.47%) voters' names were removed due to death. Additionally, 277,000 (0.48%) voters were found registered in multiple places.

Bhopal: Voter Reduction by Assembly

According to data released by Bhopal Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh, Bhopal had 2.125 million voters before the SIR, which has now reduced to 1.687 million.

If your name has been removed from the list, or if you wish to register as a new voter, note the deadlines. The claim and objection period is open until January 22, 2026. After objections are filed, the review process will ensue. The final voter list will be published on February 21, 2026.
