The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U-2.0) has commenced in Madhya Pradesh. Running until 2029, its mission is to construct 10 million new homes nationwide, including one million in Madhya Pradesh. The initiative's core aim is to provide affordable and sustainable housing for all eligible urban poor and homeless families.
According to the Urban Development and Housing Department, under PMAY Urban 1.0, 850,000 homes have already been constructed in the state with an investment of 22,975 crore rupees. Officials have been instructed to meet the targets of PMAY-U-2.0 on time.
Four Ways Assistance Will Be Provided
Eligible individuals will receive support through four main methods. The application process is streamlined to ensure transparency and ease. Interested applicants can apply online via the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs web portal (https://pmay-urban.gov.in/). For more information, contact the nearest urban body office. The central and state governments aim to ensure no eligible family remains without a home.

PMAY-U-2.0 emphasizes providing equal opportunities to all groups. Special attention is given to widows, single women, people with disabilities, senior citizens, transgender individuals, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, minorities, and other vulnerable sections for their housing needs.
Additionally, sanitation workers, street vendors under the PM Svanidhi scheme, artisans from the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, Anganwadi workers, construction laborers, people living in slums, chawls, and other eligible groups will receive special consideration.
