In a massive crackdown on lawlessness, the police and administration in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, took stringent action. On Thursday, the police-administration team demolished the luxurious mansion of Haji Shehzad Ali, former vice-president of the Congress District, who was the main accused in a stone-pelting incident. The administration claimed the mansion was constructed without permission on approximately 20,000 square feet of land. Inspired by the Bollywood film 'Sanam Bewafa', Shehzad had poured over ₹10 crore into building this dream mansion, construction of which commenced in 2017. The housewarming had yet to take place. The administration also demolished an adjacent house owned by Shehzad and another house of his councilor brother Azad Ali. During this operation, 3 expensive cars, 2 scooters, and 2 bikes were also crushed by bulldozers.
In fact, angered by an objectionable comment made by Sant Ramgiri Maharaj in Maharashtra, members of the Muslim community arrived to submit a memorandum at Chhatarpur City Kotwali last Wednesday. Led by former Congress district vice president Haji Shehzad Ali and his brother, Councilor Azad Ali, the crowd initiated vandalism and stone-pelting at the station.
This incident injured the station house officer Arvind Kujur and two constables. The matter reached the state capital Bhopal, prompting Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to direct senior officials to take strict action against the accused. The police registered cases against around 150 individuals, including 50 named individuals. Among the primary accused were Shehzad's sons Sonu Khan and Monu Khan, and Azad's son Inayat Khan.
The Chhatarpur police administration, identifying the significant roles of former Congress district vice president Haji Shehzad Ali and his brother Councilor Azad Ali in the incident, demolished their 20,000-square-foot illegal mansion within 6 hours using four bulldozers. The mansion's value was estimated at ₹10 crore.
This mansion, located in Mastan Shah Baba Colony, covered more than 20,000 square feet. Shehzad Ali was alleged to have funded the luxurious building from his illegal earnings, influenced by the mansion shown in 'Sanam Bewafa'. He lived nearby in his ancestral home and was soon to move into the mansion.
