Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented Jammu and Kashmir with projects worth 460 billion rupees on Friday. He inaugurated the Chenab Bridge and the Anji Bridge, also flagging off the Vande Bharat train.

Addressing a public gathering in Katra, the Prime Minister remarked that Pakistan had attacked both humanity and the essence of Kashmir in Pahalgam. Pakistan targeted the tourism that sustains many families in Jammu and Kashmir. From horsemen to porters, guides to guesthouse owners, Pakistan's conspiracy aimed to ruin them all. India, through Operation Sindoor, taught Pakistan a stern lesson. Now whenever PAK hears of Operation Sindoor, it will recall its disgraceful defeat.

Curious about what else Prime Minister Modi said in Katra?

A Celebration of Unity and Determination

Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared, today's event is a great celebration of India's unity and resolute determination. With the blessings of Mata Vaishno Devi, Kashmir is now integrated into the Indian rail network.

When we describe Mother India, we reverently proclaim—from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. It's becoming a reality for the railway network as well.

Amplification through Railway Projects

Udhampur, Srinagar, Baramulla—these are not just rail line projects; they are representations of the new strength of Jammu and Kashmir. They are the joyous declarations of India's burgeoning power.

Inauguration of Chenab Bridge and New Vande Bharat Trains

A short while ago, I had the privilege to inaugurate the Chenab and Anji Bridges. Today, Jammu and Kashmir received two new Vande Bharat trains. A new medical college was also laid here in Jammu. Projects worth 46,000 crore rupees will accelerate the development of Jammu and Kashmir.

Realizing the Dream of Rail Connectivity

Prime Minister Modi shared how countless generations in Jammu and Kashmir dreamt of rail connectivity. I saw a statement from former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah yesterday which I shared during my speech. He mentioned waiting for this project's completion since his school days in classes seven or eight. Today, this dream of millions has turned into reality. All the good deeds seem to have waited for me, he reflected. It's our government's privilege that this project's tempo increased during our tenure, and we completed it despite COVID-related difficulties, showing our resolve.

Success Despite Challenges

Prime Minister Modi emphasized the harsh travel conditions, unpredictable weather, and frequent landslides that could have hampered the project. But our government took the approach of challenging challenges head-on.

Construction of All-Weather Infrastructure

Many all-weather infrastructure projects are underway today in Jammu and Kashmir. Examples include the Sonberg Tunnel that opened a few months ago.

India’s Strength and Determination

He shared that just recently, he crossed the Chenab and Anji Bridges, experiencing India's unwavering determination and witnessing the skill and strength of our engineers and workers.

World's Tallest Railway Arch Bridge: A New Tourist Attraction

The Chenab Bridge is the tallest railway arch bridge in the world. Tourists flock to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower, but this bridge towers higher than the Eiffel Tower.

People will surely visit Kashmir through the Chenab Bridge, which will also become a must-see tourist site, drawing countless selfies at scenic spots.

Anji Bridge: A Marvel of Engineering

Our Anji Bridge is also a wonderful example of engineering excellence. It’s India’s first cable-supported railway bridge. These are more than just structures of brick, cement, steel, and iron; they are emblematic of India’s tenacity standing amidst the rugged Pir Panjal mountains.

A Symbol of a Developed India

These are the roaring proclamations of India’s bright future, illustrating that as grand as our dreams of development are, so is our courage, capacity, and most importantly, noble intent and tireless work ethic.

Foundations of Economic and Social Prosperity

Be it the Chenab Bridge or the Anji Bridge, they symbolize the pathway to prosperity in both Jammu and Kashmir regions. Beyond boosting tourism, they will benefit other sectors of the economy. Rail connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir will unlock new business opportunities for the region’s entrepreneurs.

This will enhance the reach of local industries, allowing Kashmiri apples to reach major markets across the nation at reduced costs and in a timely manner. Be it dried fruits or Pashmina shawls, the local craftsmanship will effortlessly travel across the country. It will also ease travel for Jammu and Kashmir residents to other parts of the nation.

Local Reactions

Reflecting upon a student from Shangal Dhan, reported in a newspaper, who remarked that only those who ventured beyond the village had seen a train until now. Most villagers had only watched train videos. It’s surreal to them that a real train will pass before their eyes now. Many people have memorized the train timings, I’ve read.

Year-Round Service

He related a touching insight from a young girl, who expressed that weather conditions will no longer dictate whether paths are open. This new train service will continually aid the people.

Jammu and Kashmir: The Crown Jewel of Mother India

Prime Minister Modi painted Jammu and Kashmir as Mother India’s crown. Here, the cultural, spiritual consciousness, and the skill of the locals shine bright like jewels. Their ancient culture, values, spiritual consciousness, beauty of nature, herbal world, fruit and flora proliferation - all are unique. The talents of the youth here shine like a crown jewel.

Education and Cultural Pride of Jammu and Kashmir: Prime Minister Modi

He declared, Jammu Kashmir has been a pride of India in terms of education and culture. As it becomes one of the world's major knowledge hubs, Jammu Kashmir’s role will only increase. The presence of institutions like IIT, IIM, AIIMS, and NIT alongside central universities in Jammu and Srinagar augments this. A research ecosystem is expanding, with remarkable strides in both education and healthcare. Notably, two state-level cancer institutes have emerged in recent years.

New medical facilities have opened in the past five years, seven to be precise. A medical college’s presence significantly benefits patients and the youth of that region.

Developing Health Facilities Alongside Education

Jammu Kashmir now sees its AIIMS seats increase from 500 to 1300. I’m delighted that the Reasi district will soon have a new medical college. The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence stands not only as a modern hospital but also a testament to our culture of giving.

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Medical College: A Symbol of Charity and Service

Funds for this medical college were donated by visitors from across India paying respect at Mata Vaishnavdevi’s feet. I extend heartfelt congratulations to the Shri Mata Vaishnavadevi Shrine Board, and its chairman Manoj, for their dedication to this sacred cause. This hospital’s capacity is increasing from 300 to 500 beds. Pilgrims visiting Mata Vaishno Devi in Katra will find considerable convenience thanks to this.

Commitment to Serving the Poor: 11 Years of Service Initiatives

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the dream of a permanent house has been realized for 4,00,00,000 impoverished families. The Ujjwala Yojana ended smoke in 10,00,00,000 kitchens, protecting the health of our sisters and daughters. The Ayushman Bharat scheme has provided free treatment up to 5,00,000 rupees for 50,00,00,000 underprivileged people. Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana has assured full meals in every plate. Pahalgam Attack on Humanity and Kashmiri Culture: Prime Minister Modi

Prime Minister Modi emphasized how tourism creates jobs and connects people. Unfortunately, our neighboring country's mentality stands against humanity and unity. It opposes tourism and even resents the livelihood of the poor.

Pakistan’s attack on Pahalgam was an assault on both humanity and Kashmiri culture. Its intent was to incite riots in India and halt the earnings of Kashmir's hardworking people. Thus, Pakistan attacked tourists. Despite such opposition, tourism has been growing continuously over the years. Record numbers of tourists have visited annually, upon whom many families in Jammu and Kashmir rely. Pakistan targeted precisely this.

Whether it's the horse riders, porters, guides, guest house operators, shops, or eateries—Pakistan's plot aimed to destroy them all.

The young man Adil, who opposed terrorism, was also working to support his family. Yet, the terrorists killed him too.

The Courageous People of Jammu and Kashmir: Prime Minister Modi

Prime Minister Modi noted the courageous stance the people of Jammu and Kashmir have taken against Pakistan’s conspiracy. His strength is a firm signal not just to Pakistan but to all those with a terrorist mentality worldwide. The youth of Jammu and Kashmir have resolved to rebuff terrorism.

This was the same terrorism that burned schools in the valley—not just destroying buildings, they destroyed the future of two generations. Hospitals were devastated, and several generations were ruined. Ensuring people can elect their representatives, that elections can take place, was a significant challenge due to terrorism.

After enduring terrorism for years, Jammu and Kashmir had witnessed such devastation that its residents stopped dreaming, accepting terrorism as their fate.

Breaking Jammu and Kashmir from this state was essential, and we have shown it’s possible. Today, the youth of Jammu and Kashmir are dreaming new dreams and realizing them. Kashmir's youth now boosts markets, malls, and cinemas with life. Residents are eager to see Jammu and Kashmir become a central hub for film shoots again and want it to emerge as a center for sports.

This enthusiasm was visible in the Mata Kheer Bhawani festival recently attended by thousands, showcasing the image of a new Jammu and Kashmir. Starting on the 3rd, the Amarnath Yatra will commence alongside bright Eid celebrations all around. The atmosphere of development cultivated in Jammu and Kashmir won’t be shaken by the Pahalgam attack. To all the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Modi promises—development won’t stop here. If any obstacle arises against your dreams, it must first face Modi.

A Special Appeal to Youth

Prime Minister Modi came with a special appeal for people in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly its youth, and extended the same appeal to all Indians from this land.

Operation Sindoor and India's Might

He reflected on how Operation Sindoor demonstrated India’s strength at the soul's temple. Today, the world discusses India’s defense system due to one reason—our forces’ faith in ‘Make in India’.

Self-Reliance Mantra for Citizens

The success of the forces now needs to be echoed by every citizen. This year's budget introduced the Mission Manufacturing initiative. This mission aims to propel the manufacturing sector to new heights.

Call to Youth to Join the Manufacturing Mission

He urges Jammu and Kashmir's youth—Join this mission. Your modern outlook is needed by the nation, your innovations important. Your ideas and skills will elevate India's security and economy to new heights.

India: The New Face of Defense Export

In the last decade, India has become a significant defense exporter. Our goal now is to rank India among the world’s top defense exporters. As we progress towards this, new job opportunities will emerge swiftly within India.

‘Made in India’ as True Patriotism

Prime Minister Modi insisted on adopting a new resolution—We must prioritize buying products made in India and into which our people have poured their sweat. This is true patriotism; this is service to the nation. We must elevate our forces’ honor on the borders and nurture the pride of ‘Made in India’ in markets.

Towards a Radiant Future for Jammu and Kashmir

He envisioned a brilliant future awaiting Jammu and Kashmir. The central government collaborates with the local government focusing on developmental works, supporting each other. We must continuously strengthen the path of peace and prosperity we're advancing on.
