A recently released police poster in Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur has sparked political uproar. Featuring a list of criminals involved in theft, chain snatching, and robbery, the poster prominently includes a name typically associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP): one of its Mandal Vice Presidents. The revelation has spurred the BJP into damage control.
In the Kachhwa police station area, authorities displayed the poster at a busy junction. Among the five criminals featured was Bhonnu Singh, BJP's Majhawan Mandal Vice President, who was recently appointed after party elections. This revelation has sent political ripples through the party.

Bhonnu Singh joined the BJP four years ago, often sharing photos with prominent party figures on social media. He had been planning to run for District Panchayat Member in the upcoming elections but now faces a political controversy that threatens his ambitions.
Vice President Clarifies
Addressing the controversy, BJP Mandal Vice President Bhonnu Singh stated he is implicated in only one case of motorcycle theft from 2014, registered when he was a minor. This case is currently under judicial review. Singh asserts there are no other charges against him.
Police Perspective
Sadar Officer Amar Bahadur explained that posters listing criminals connected to theft, snatching, and robbery have been a practice for the past 15 years. The poster in Kachhwa included Bhonnu Singh's name due to a charge filed against him in 2014, which has also led to a charge sheet being submitted in court by the police.
