Dularchand Yadav had a passion for wrestling and would enliven the atmosphere with local folk songs. He sang this song in an interview during an election campaign. He was murdered on Thursday during election campaigning in Mokama. His long-standing rivalry with Anant Singh was well-known. He never considered Anant Singh as the 'little boss.' In an interview, he mentioned that the 'big boss' has arrived in Mokama, with the name Piyush Priyadarshi.

Dularchand Yadav himself wasn't contesting but was campaigning for Piyush Priyadarshi of the Jan Suraj Party against Anant Singh on the Mokama seat.

The land of Mokama has long been marked by violence in elections. This fertile land by the river Ganges is rich in crops and equally fertile in politics.

This time, the Mokama seat has become the poster boy of Bihar politics. Several VVIPs are contesting this seat. Anant Singh, a former legislator known for his strong presence and loose tongue, is contesting from this seat for the JDU. He has a strong grip over the area but faces several criminal cases. Earlier, his wife Neelam Devi contested and won the by-election from this seat. This time, Anant Singh is himself in the fray.

Veena Devi, wife of another influential leader Surajbhan, is contesting from the RJD on this seat. The RJD has given her the ticket to secure the Bhumihar vote.

The third contender is Piyush Priyadarshi from Jan Suraj. Piyush, also known as Lallu Mukhiya, belongs to the Dhanuk caste and comes from an extremely backward community.

The Taal region of Mokama has once again witnessed a political murder. This land by the Ganges is as fertile for agriculture as its politics is dense and tough. Dularchand, who had a hold in Mokama, was campaigning for Piyush Priyadarshi when he was attacked and shot amid the chaos. Police have filed cases against JDU candidate Anant Singh, Karmveer Singh, Kanjay Singh, and Chhotan Singh under several sections, including murder, based on the statements of Dularchand's family.

Another case has been added to Mokama's list of political murders.

The Story of Dularchand Yadav

Dularchand Yadav was a well-known name in the settlements of the Taal region by the Ganges. He was respected within the Yadav community. Dularchand Yadav was murdered in the village of Tartara. He was born and raised in this village, though he currently resided in Baard.

His Yadav connection proved beneficial in establishing political ties with Lalu Yadav. Dularchand had a good rapport with Lalu. Sporting a robust mustache, he was one of the few RJD leaders who understood the intricacies of regional politics. His advice was indispensable for understanding the social, caste, and political equations of the area.

A local journalist from Mokama describes, "Dularchand Yadav was sometimes close to Lalu, sometimes to Nitish. In the 1990s, he had a significant influence in Baard and Mokama, and people knew him as a strongman." Several cases are registered against him in Patna district's Ghosabari and Baard police stations.

Recently, understanding the electoral mood, Dularchand Yadav was making sharp statements against Anant Singh and Surajbhan. In an interview with ABP, when asked who is the bigger strongman between Anant Singh and Surajbhan, he said,

"They were significant in their time. Now, one requires glasses, and the other's leg is injured. Without bandage, he won't be able to walk. It's due to duping the public, something Dularchand never did."

During this period, Dularchand mentored Piyush Priyadarshi.

Fought Against Anant Singh's Brother in 1990

According to a report by Prabhat Khabar, 11 cases of murder and extortion were registered against Dularchand Yadav. After getting bail from court in 1990, he actively joined political life. He contested against Anant Singh's brother in 1990 but lost by a small margin.

Dularchand Yadav's family was deeply connected to farming. His father was known for social work in the area. Initially, Dularchand supplied coal and worked as a contractor. With earnings from this, he stepped into politics.

The Body Arrived on a Tractor

Tartara village in Mokama is now a police camp. After much persuasion by the administration, locals allowed Dularchand Yadav's body to be taken for post-mortem. The body was transported to Baard for post-mortem on a tractor under heavy police security.
