Baloch leader Mir Yar Baloch has vehemently opposed Pakistan's claims over the region's natural resources. He clarified that the immense oil and mineral reserves in the area actually belong to the 'Republic of Balochistan,' not Pakistan. Mir Yar Baloch stated that President Trump and his administration have been 'completely misled' by Pakistan's military, especially by Army Chief General Asim Munir. He questioned the intentions of Pakistan's military leadership, labeling the country as a haven for terrorism.
In a statement on Thursday on X, Mir Yar Baloch termed Trump's claim about the region's oil and mineral resources as a 'major misunderstanding.' Baloch affirmed that these resources lie in Balochistan, not Punjab, and have no connection to Pakistan.
'Asim Munir Misled You'
Mir Yar wrote, 'It's true that this region holds vast oil and mineral reserves, but it’s crucial to inform you that the Pakistani military, particularly General Asim Munir and their diplomatic machinery, have seriously misled you. The reserves of oil, natural gas, copper, lithium, uranium, and rare earth minerals are located in Balochistan, not Punjab. This area belongs to the Republic of Balochistan, which Pakistan illegally occupied in 1948.'
What Did Trump Announce?
On Thursday, Trump wrote on social media about an agreement between the U.S. and Pakistan to jointly develop the 'vast oil reserves' in Pakistan. He even mentioned that 'Pakistan might one day sell oil to India.' However, just hours prior to this announcement, Trump talked about imposing a 25% tariff and other punitive taxes on India.
Baloch Leader Warns Trump
Mir Yar Baloch warned Trump that Pakistan's military and its intelligence agency ISI, acting as 'guardians of terrorist organizations,' would use the mineral wealth of Balochistan to promote terrorism, which would be a severe threat to global security.
He stated, 'Granting Pakistan's military and its agency ISI access to Balochistan's trillion-dollar resources would be a strategic mistake. This would enhance ISI's financial and operational capacity to spread terrorist networks worldwide, increasing the risk of 9/11-like attacks.'
He expressed that these resources would not benefit the Baloch people; instead, they would be used to fuel jihadist activities against India and Israel, intensifying instability in South Asia and globally.
Calls for Support in Baloch Struggle
Mir Yar Baloch appealed to the international community, particularly the U.S., to recognize the Baloch people's rightful demands for independence and control over their resources. He emphasized, 'We urge the international community, especially the U.S., to acknowledge these truths and support the Baloch people's struggle for freedom and sovereignty over their land and wealth.'
