BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party) chief Mayawati has targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his statement on reservation in the USA. Mayawati said Congress is conspiring to end reservations.
The BSP Supremo stressed the need to remain cautious of Rahul Gandhi's drama. Through a series of posts, she criticized both Congress and Rahul Gandhi. Mayawati pointed out that the Congress government did not implement OBC reservation during its long tenure in power and has never conducted any caste census. Now, the party dreams of coming to power on these grounds.
She added that people should stay vigilant against this drama because this party will never conduct a caste census in the future.
Referencing Rahul Gandhi's statement abroad, she emphasized that he mentioned that once India is in a better position, they would end reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and OBCs. This shows Congress has been plotting to end reservations for years. Mayawati warned members of these categories to be cautious of such dangerous statements from Rahul Gandhi because the party will end reservations once it comes to power.
What did Rahul say about reservation?
Mayawati remarked that one must remain alert to the antics of this party, which pretends to safeguard the constitution and reservations. In reality, Congress has always been anti-reservation. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar resigned as Law Minister because Congress did not fulfill reservation quotas. Until casteism is eradicated in India, the social, economic, and educational conditions of these groups are unlikely to improve, despite better national circumstances. Hence, constitutional arrangements for reservation must continue.
During a Q&A session with students at Georgetown University, USA, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi's significant statement on reservation drew attention. When asked about how long caste-based reservation will continue, he stated Congress would think about ending reservation when the country achieves fairness. Currently, such conditions do not exist.
He highlighted financial data revealing that out of every 100 rupees, tribals get 10 paise, Dalits get 5 rupees, and OBCs get a similar amount. The reality is, they are not receiving adequate participation. The problem is that 90% of the country doesn't get equal opportunities. Look at any list of top business leaders. Show me a name of a tribal, Dalit, or OBC. I think there's only one OBC among the top 200.
