In an unsettling revelation from Delhi, insurance agent Ranjit Ranjan Thakur, valuing cunning over conscience, trapped numerous women into a fraudulent web of deceit. Posing as a certified doctor on matrimonial websites, the 42-year-old man promised marriage only to swindle them thereafter. His masquerade unraveled when one of his victims filed a police complaint, detailing how she was beguiled into parting with more than a lakh rupees under the guise of matrimony by someone claiming to be Dr. Aman Sharma.
A report by the English daily The Indian Express disclosed that the deceived woman discovered the man had used a fictitious name and photos to orchestrate the ruse.
The dedicated sleuths of Delhi Police initiated an in-depth probe, managing to trace the bank account where the ill-gotten gains were transferred. Further investigation led them to a trove of information about the suspect's mobile number.
