Facebook founder and META CEO Mark Zuckerberg might be facing some serious trouble. A parliamentary committee is planning to summon Meta, the parent company of Facebook. Chairman Nishikant Dubey of the Parliamentary Committee on IT and Communications announced this on social media platform X.
He stated, "My committee will summon Meta for spreading incorrect information. Any false information in a democratic country tarnishes its image, and the organization must apologize to the Indian Parliament and its people for this mistake."

Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had already addressed Mark Zuckerberg. He wrote on X that India, the world's largest democracy, held elections in 2024, with participation from 640 million people, demonstrating trust in the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Zuckerberg's assertion that most globally ruling governments, including India's, lost elections after COVID is incorrect. During a podcast, Mark claimed that globally, several governments, including India, suffered election losses in 2024 post-COVID.
He voiced this opinion on Joe Rogan's podcast, where he mentioned that such governmental losses reflect diminished public trust post-pandemic. He attributed this to rising inflation, economic policies related to the pandemic, and how governments handled COVID-19.
However, his claims about India were incorrect, resulting in continued criticism. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw tagged Meta in his post on X, stating that Mark Zuckerberg providing misinformation is highly unfortunate. Simultaneously, Nishikant Dubey mentioned summoning Meta in this matter.
