A strange and unsettling incident has surfaced in Mumbai, Maharashtra. A 19-year-old youth named Rahul Singh from Varanasi was apprehended for allegedly assaulting a teenage girl in the western part of Mumbai. The incident occurred on May 24 in Sanjay Nagar, Kandivali (West), when the girl was out with a friend. This information was disclosed by a police officer to a news agency.
The officer reported that Singh behaved inappropriately with the girl. He then picked up a brick from the roadside and struck her on the head. Additionally, he smashed her mobile phone. The assault resulted in severe injuries to the girl, necessitating her treatment at Shatabdi Hospital.
On this day, Singh targeted the victim, leading to severe bodily harm.
Investigations revealed that Singh traveled from Varanasi to Mumbai because the girl was not taking his calls. The two were well acquainted with each other. Currently, charges have been filed against the accused under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
The officer mentioned that the probe is ongoing, and further actions will be decided post-investigation. According to local residents, an individual assaulted a girl while she was out for a stroll, resulting in injuries to her. The assailant and the victim knew each other.
