An unfortunate rail disaster unfolded on Thursday afternoon in Gonda, UP, derailing 10 coaches of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express. The calamity claimed two lives and left many injured in the vicinity of Motiganj border on the Gorakhpur rail section. The moment news of the mishap spread, top railway officials swiftly reached the scene, initiating rescue operations. Efforts to extricate passengers trapped in the wrecked carriages are ongoing.

In addition to railway authorities, police and emergency services rushed to the location. Medical personnel were summoned, and intensive efforts are being made to rescue the trapped passengers. The accident has disrupted train services along the route. The affected train is identified as train number 15904. According to a passenger, the accident occurred at approximately 2:30 PM, around 20 kilometers from Gonda, derailing two complete coaches and damaging the tracks. It was with great difficulty that passengers emerged from the wreckage.

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, has taken cognizance of the rail mishap. He has instructed officials to accelerate the relief operations and has ordered adequate treatment for the injured. Meanwhile, the railway authorities have released helpline numbers to assist in the response.
