A four-foot-long snake slipped from a rescuer's grasp and slithered into a doctor's cabin at Thane District's Civil Hospital's male ward on Monday, causing patients, nurses, and relatives to flee the hospital in fear, according to hospital officials.

Panic Ensues as Snake Slips Loose

Two people from a nearby settlement had been bitten by non-venomous 'Dhaman' snakes and were brought to the government hospital for treatment. During this time, a local snake rescuer caught the two snakes and was showing them to the doctors for identification.

Officials stated that in the meantime, one snake slipped from the rescuer's grip inside a tented temporary hospital, causing panic. The hospital administration reported, "The snake suddenly entered the male ward area and then went into a doctor's cabin. A nurse saw it and cried for help, prompting patients and relatives to rush outside in fear."

The Snakes Were Non-Venomous

The rescuer quickly recaptured the snake within minutes, preventing any further disturbance. Doctors confirmed that the snakes were non-venomous, and there was no harm to any staff or patients. A hospital official further commented, "The good news is that the snake wasn't dangerous. Both snakebite victims received immediate treatment and are stable. Panic arose due to fear, not medical risk."

The district hospital is currently operating out of a psychiatric hospital location because a new super-specialty building is under construction at the original site.
