Mangesh Chivate, a close associate of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has been removed from his position as the head of the CM's Health Assistance Desk. Dr. Rameshwar Naik, who previously headed the health assistance desk under Devendra Fadnavis, has taken over his duties.
Who is Mangesh Chivate?
During CM Shinde's tenure, the Chief Minister's Assistance Fund was well-known for aiding individuals with healthcare facilities. This initiative gained significant attention. Chivate earned recognition for assisting patients during the COVID-19 pandemic and was also known for mediating consensus between the state government and Maratha reservation leader Manoj Jarange Patil during reservation protests.
Speculations on Cabinet Expansion
The formation of the new Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra is complete, and the next step is the cabinet expansion. After extensive deliberations, a formula for ministerial distribution among BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP has been nearly finalized. The cabinet expansion is expected to take place on December 14.
In the Maharashtra Assembly elections, a total of 288 seats were contested. The MVA coalition secured 233 seats in total: BJP won 132, Shiv Sena 57, NCP 41, JSS 2, and RSJP 1.
