It was a spectacular Sunday for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Led by skipper KL Rahul, the team played an outstanding match at their home ground, the Ikana Stadium. Gujarat Titans (GT) were beaten convincingly by 33 runs.

This match marked LSG's first IPL victory against Gujarat. Both teams, recently added to the IPL roster in 2022, faced off in their third season, with Lucknow finally breaking their streak of losses against Gujarat.

Lucknow Finally Triumph Over Gujarat in the IPL

Prior to this match, the two sides had met four times in the IPL, and Gujarat had come out on top each occasion. This fifth encounter, however, saw Lucknow secure a win on their home turf, turning the match into a momentous occasion.

Note that under Hardik Pandya's captaincy, Gujarat won the 2022 season and reached the final in 2023. Now, with Hardik leading Mumbai Indians, the captaincy for Gujarat rests with Shubman Gill. Meanwhile, KL Rahul's captaincy has yet to secure an IPL title for Lucknow.

Yash Delivers a Five-Wicket Spell and Krunal Grabs Three for Lucknow

Setting a target of 164 runs, LSG's defense was led valiantly by fast bowler Yash Thakur and spinner Krunal Pandya. Yash clinched five wickets for 30 runs, while Krunal took three wickets for 11 runs. Pacers Naveen-ul-Haq and Ravi Bishnoi both contributed with a wicket each.
