Since last night, the relentless downpour in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, has brought the city to a standstill. The heavy rains have left several areas waterlogged, making it extremely difficult for people to commute. The overnight deluge transformed roads into lakes by morning.
Waterlogged Areas near Hospital and Railway Station
Health services have been severely impacted. At the Civil Hospital, water reached knee-level on Park Road, causing significant challenges for patients and their families trying to reach the hospital. Ambulances also struggled to navigate through the floodwaters.
Similarly, outside Charbagh Railway Station, the situation was no different. Waterlogging created obstacles for passengers trying to enter and exit the station, with many travelers' belongings getting soaked.
Other parts of the city are also grappling with severe waterlogging. Cars stalled in flooded streets. Local residents reported that the municipal corporation did not prepare adequate drainage solutions before the rains.
The incomplete cleaning of drains has become apparent, as even a short spell of rain left the city inundated. This rainfall exposed the inefficiencies of Lucknow's municipal management. Complaints have surfaced about water entering homes in low-lying areas due to extensive water accumulation.
Schools Closed till 8th Grade
For safety, Lucknow administration ordered the closure of all government and private schools up to the 8th grade. This decision was based on weather forecasts predicting continued rainfall for the next 24 hours and concerns over waterlogging.

The administration has advised residents to stay indoors unless necessary and seek safety in secure areas. Municipal teams are engaged in drainage efforts amidst ongoing rain and waterlogging, once again raising questions about Lucknow's drainage system efficiency.
