Bird flu (avian influenza) has sparked fear across several states in the country. The most significant impact has been observed in Rampur district, Uttar Pradesh, where the H5 virus outbreak at a poultry farm in Sehore village has resulted in the death of approximately 15,000 chickens. The situation is so severe that deceased birds are being buried in large pits, with a three-week ban on the sale of chicken and eggs imposed across the district.

Samples sent to the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) in Bareilly and the High-Security Animal Disease Laboratory (HSADL) in Bhopal have confirmed the presence of the H5 virus. Consequently, the administration has sealed a one-kilometer radius around the affected poultry farm and declared a monitoring zone within a 10-kilometer area. Strict restrictions are in place on any poultry activities and the transportation of poultry products within this range.

Strict Measures by the District Administration

Under the leadership of the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police, administrative teams are closely monitoring the situation.
