Initial trends in the Lok Sabha Election results show India Block gaining 231 seats and NDA coalition securing 294. The Congress, part of India Block, is leading in 98 constituencies. During a press conference by Congress, President Mallikarjun Kharge mentioned that this public decision is a statement against PM Modi. Rahul Gandhi highlighted that the Congress and India Block didn't just fight against a singular political party but against organizations like BJP, CBI, and ED, which were allegedly seized by the Modi administration. He added that the battle was to safeguard the constitution. 'Ever since BJP froze our bank accounts, incarcerated our chief ministers, and split our parties, I believed the people would unite for the constitution.' Gandhi's belief proved accurate.

Rahul Gandhi remarked on the massive and initial step taken by the Indian populace to preserve the constitution. He praised the role of India Block's partners in the elections. Gandhi said, 'Our alliance will decide tomorrow what our role will be following these results. India has told PM Modi that he's no longer desired, with the poorest—labourers, farmers, Dalits, Adivasis, and backward classes—having played a pivotal role in preserving the constitution,' Gandhi said.

To govern or to sit in the opposition?

When asked about whether they would form the government or join the opposition after the results, Rahul Gandhi stated that the decision would be made the following day by their coalition. He reiterated that the country's poorest citizens were the ones who saved the constitution.

Which constituency will Rahul leave, Wayanad or Rae Bareli?

Gandhi, having won both Wayanad and Rae Bareli, extended heartfelt thanks to the voters of both constituencies. He mentioned that he'd engage in some discussions before deciding which seat to vacate.

Kharge declared it a victory for the people and democracy

Kharge expressed that this is the people's decision and a triumph for democracy. He emphasized that the election was a contest between the populace and Modi. He humbly accepted the public's mandate, saying that voters did not give full majority to any party, especially the BJP, which sought votes on the basis of one person, one face. He stated that this signifies a political and moral defeat for the BJP.
