Targeted for mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not having a family, RJD patriarch Lalu Yadav might introduce his daughter Rohini Acharya to politics through this Lok Sabha election. There is a strong possibility that Rohini, who resides in Singapore, could contend in the elections.
Last year, Rohini drew significant admiration when she donated a kidney to her father. Now, there is speculation that Lalu is poised to launch his daughter Rohini into the political arena soon.
Before Rohini, members of the Lalu family, including his wife Rabri Devi, who has served as Chief Minister, and their children Misa Bharti, Tejashwi Yadav, and Tej Pratap Yadav, are active in politics. Misa Bharti is currently a Rajya Sabha MP, Tejashwi Yadav is a former Deputy Chief Minister and currently the leader of the opposition, and Tej Pratap Yadav is a former minister and an MLA in the Bihar government.
Rohini May Contest from Saran
Ever since Rohini donated a kidney to Lalu, there's been speculation that he might soon induct her into Bihar's political scene. It's also probable that Rohini Acharya could run in the Lok Sabha elections from Saran. In the 1970s, Lalu himself commenced his political journey from this very seat.
It's noteworthy that Lalu became an MP for the first time from the Chhapra (now Saran) Lok Sabha seat in 1977 at the age of 29. He secured victories from Saran again in 1989 and 2004.
Rabri Devi Lost the Election from Saran
Following conviction in the fodder scam in 2013, Lalu was disqualified from contesting elections, and in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he fielded his wife Rabri Devi from Saran who faced electoral defeat.
MLC Sunil Kumar Singh, an associate of the Lalu family, hinted at such developments through a Facebook post. He mentioned that the public and party workers of the Saran Lok Sabha seat desire Rohini Acharya to fight the upcoming election from there. Singh's post provides clear indicators within Bihar's political landscape that Rohini Acharya might contend from Saran in the Lok Sabha elections.
It's to be noted that during the grand alliance's 'Jan Vishwas Rally' on March 3rd, Rohini Acharya made her first public appearance alongside her father Lalu Prasad at Patna's historic Gandhi Maidan.
