The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested BRS MLC K. Kavitha on Friday, related to an alleged money laundering case involving the Delhi liquor policy. After searching her Hyderabad residence earlier that day, she was taken into custody and later arrested by the ED team. Sources indicate K. Kavitha did not comply with two summons for questioning, leading to this action.

During the ED's house proceedings, a heated debate arose between KTR, Kavitha's brother, and the ED officers. A video from inside BRS MLC Kavitha's residence appeared, showing a sharp exchange between ED officials and BRS leader KTR Rao. The video purportedly shows an argument between KTR Rao and IRS Bhanu Priya.

In response to these events, KTR's team released a statement. It suggested that K. Kavitha and other family members are ready to cooperate fully with ED officials. Party leaders claim they will address the wrongful arrest by ED in a legal, peaceful, and democratic manner. KTR, Harish Rao, and other senior party figures have called for party workers to remain calm and not impede the arrest process.

Notably, the order for K. Kavitha's arrest states that the assistant director has found reasons under PMLA 2002 (Act No. 15 of 2003) to hold her accountable for punishable offenses. Utilizing powers under PMLA, they arrested Kavitha at 5:20 PM, having informed her of the arrest reasons, along with providing a copy of the basis for the arrest (a 14-page document).

Following the incident, KTR's team targeted PM Modi in their statement. They drew a historical parallel, stating that in 1323 Alauddin Khilji's army had raided and captured the Kakatiya emperor Pratap Rudra, taking him to Delhi. Exactly seven hundred years later, in 2024, Modi's forces invaded Hyderabad and captured MLC Kavitha, echoing the actions of Khilji's successors.
