The CBI, investigating the Kolkata lady doctor's rape and murder case, revisited RG Kar Medical College. They examined the crime scene and investigated corruption in the hospital. Several individuals were interrogated by the agency in connection with the case. Former principal Sandeep Ghosh has been continually questioned, yet the CBI has not reached any conclusions so far.

This lack of progress has led to ongoing protests by a large number of doctors and the public demanding justice. On Sunday, the ruling party, TMC, organized another major protest, with their women's wing taking to the streets. They criticized the CBI for the slow pace of investigation, making it a key issue in their demonstrations. Meanwhile, BJP has also been holding a series of week-long protests and has taken to the streets for the third consecutive week.

Central Minister and BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar mentioned that protesters want Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to resign due to this incident. The West Bengal government has called for a special assembly session on Monday to introduce and pass a bill providing for the death penalty for the convicted rapists. However, the central government claims that there are already strict laws in place for such crimes.

On Sunday afternoon, a mega rally involving people from various professions was held from College Square to Esplanade in central Kolkata. A protester described the movement as non-political, organized via social media. On Saturday, students from different schools across Kolkata participated in various rallies, showing that the entire nation is outraged and demanding swift justice.

Additionally, during the ongoing protests by junior doctors against the rape-murder, a police civic volunteer arrived on a bike in a severely intoxicated state and accidentally hit a junior doctor. This incident occurred around 2 am near Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata. However, the police let the accused go without any action, leading to increased agitation among the protesters.

Angry doctors blocked BT Road for five hours demanding the arrest of the perpetrator. Police eventually arrested the intoxicated civic volunteer. One of the protesting students said the incident happened near Sinthi Crossing on BT Road in the northern part of the city. It is alleged that a traffic sergeant helped the civic volunteer escape the scene.

In the lady doctor's rape-murder case, the CBI is investigating from multiple angles. According to sources, the agency is trying to determine why there was a 40-minute delay in notifying the police after the doctor’s body was found. It is also probing whether hospital officials attempted to cover up the crime between the discovery of the body and the arrival of the police.

Police reports state that the doctor’s body was found at 9:30 am on August 9th, but the first call to the police station was made at 10:10 am. The distance between RG Kar Medical College and Tala Police Station is just one kilometer, which can be covered in about four minutes. Despite this, it took over an hour for the police to reach the crime scene, which is seen as a significant oversight.

This delay caused an hour-long gap between discovering the body and sealing the crime scene, allowing a crowd to gather and potentially tampering with the evidence. The CBI is also examining the Call Detail Record (CDR) of the former principal to determine if there was any interference from his end. He was summoned for questioning for a record 14th time on Friday. Additionally, the CBI has interrogated the officer-in-charge of Tala Police Station regarding the matter.
