Mamata government is facing not just the opposition's criticism but also voices from within their own party, Trinamool Congress, regarding the Kolkata rape and murder case. Rajya Sabha MP Sukhendu Shekhar Ray questioned Mamata Banerjee's decision two days ago regarding the delay in removing Principal Sandeep Ghosh. Now, he has raised concerns about the police commissioner and the former principal of RG Kar Medical College.
In a post on X, Sukhendu Shekhar wrote, 'The CBI should work impartially. The former principal and police commissioner should be detained and interrogated to uncover who and why the suicide story was spread. Why was the hall wall demolished, and who protected Sanjay Roy (main accused) to make him so powerful? Why was a sniffer dog used three days later? Hundreds of such questions exist. They should be compelled to speak.'
Sukhendu Shekhar Speaks Out Continuously
In another post, he wrote that a stringent central act is necessary for the safety of healthcare professionals in hospitals, female students in schools and colleges, rape survivors in shelters, and female employees at workplaces. The central government has been requested to present a bill in the winter session in this regard.
Sukhendu Shekhar has been vocal since the incident. He stated immediately after the event that it disproved the notion that Kolkata is the safest city for women.
Supporting the doctors' protest on August 14, he wrote, 'I am joining the protesters, especially because, like millions of Bengali families, I have a daughter and a young granddaughter. We should stand together at this moment. Enough of the cruelty against women. Let's all unite and oppose it. No matter what, those trying to save the culprits must not succeed. Those responsible for this crime should be hanged.'
Sandeep Ghosh Under Ongoing Scrutiny
You should know that RG Kar Medical College Hospital's principal Sandeep Ghosh, upon whom Sukhendu Shekhar has raised questions, has been under scrutiny before. The CBI team has interrogated Sandeep Ghosh for hours. Earlier, the Kolkata High Court also reprimanded Sandeep Ghosh. Deputy Superintendent of Murshidabad Medical College Hospital, Akhtar Ali, has made several explosive allegations against Sandeep Ghosh.
Akhtar Ali said, 'I have never seen a dirtier person than Sandeep Ghosh in my life. He is very corrupt. He used to fail students, take 20% commission in everything. Whatever work happened in RG Kar, be it postings or house staff shifts, he took money in everything. He used to make students drink alcohol.' Akhtar Ali said that Sandeep Ghosh spread mafia rule. He kept 20 men for his security. I have seen film stars with bouncers, but never a medical college principal. He is very powerful. I complained against him in 2023, but nothing happened.'
A Doctor's Nightmare at the Hospital
It should be noted that on August 8-9, there was inhumane treatment towards a female doctor in the seminar hall of RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata. The 31-year-old postgraduate resident doctor on duty at the government RG Kar Medical College and Hospital was allegedly sexually assaulted on the night of August 8-9. She was found unconscious in the seminar hall and was immediately taken to a doctor, but she died during treatment. There were several injury marks on her body.
The post-mortem report of this case has also come out, which the police handed over to the victim's family. The report stated the nature before the murder and sexual penetration. It was mentioned that the victim was strangled to death. She was raped before the murder. The accused strangled her twice. She died between 3 to 5 in the morning.
