The Indian cricket team is scheduled to play three T20 and three ODI matches on their tour of Sri Lanka. The schedule has already been announced. Fans are now eagerly awaiting the announcement of the Indian squad for the tour, which is expected on Thursday (July 18).

Kohli and Rohit heed Gambhir's advice

A significant update regarding the Sri Lanka tour has emerged. According to The Indian Express, captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be part of the Indian team for the ODI series against Sri Lanka. While there had been news about the possibility of the players resting, both legends have now confirmed they will participate in the tour. Kohli has informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) of his availability for the ODI series against Sri Lanka, following Gautam Gambhir's request to senior players to join the tour. Moreover, it has been mentioned that Jasprit Bumrah will likely get a rest for this tour.

Virat Kohli delivered an explosive performance in the T20 World Cup 2024 final, blasting a rapid 76 runs off 59 balls against South Africa. This was his first fifty in the T20 World Cup 2024. Following the World Cup win, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirement from T20 internationals.

Suryakumar Yadav to lead in T20s!

The return of senior players like Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav for the Sri Lanka tour is imminent. The key question now revolves around who will captain the Indian T20 team. BCCI and the new head coach Gambhir are in search of a captain for the next T20 World Cup slated for 2026. Reports suggest that Suryakumar Yadav may take on the captaincy role for the T20 series against Sri Lanka.

The Indian team's Sri Lanka tour kicks off on July 27. India will play a total of six matches over 12 days in Sri Lanka. The T20 series, consisting of three matches, will begin with the first T20 on July 27, the second T20 on July 28, and the third and final T20 match on July 30. All matches are scheduled to be played in Pallekele, at Indian Standard Time (IST) 7 PM.

The teams will then proceed with a three-match ODI series. The first ODI will be held on August 2, followed by the remaining matches on August 4 and August 7. These 50-over one-day internationals will take place at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, starting at 2:30 PM IST.
