On Saturday morning, Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Minister Omar Abdullah arrived at the Chasoti village in Kishtwar district, recently devastated by a flash flood. He first visited the Gulabgarh’s Padder block, then assessed the situation in Chasoti village. CM Omar Abdullah connected with affected families, the injured, and officers in charge of the relief and rescue operations. As per the latest updates, 65 corpses have been retrieved from the debris, and rescue teams remain engaged in the search for life.
CM Omar Abdullah stated, “Once the relief and rescue operation is complete, we will assess whether preventive measures could have been taken when the weather department issued alerts. The army, NDRF, SDRF, police, and administration are collaboratively conducting the rescue operations. Political party workers are also assisting on the ground. The Prime Minister and Home Minister have reached out, assuring every possible support.”
The Indian Army, NDRF, and SDRF teams are tenaciously engaged in rescue efforts.
In the flood-affected areas, relief and rescue efforts are progressing rapidly. Teams from the Indian Army, NDRF, SDRF, the police, and the local administration continue to search for missing individuals and clear the debris.
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh stated that the government promptly responded, with PM Narendra Modi personally overseeing the situation. He explained, “Equipment was transported here overnight. CRPF arrived promptly as well.”
Machinery is being utilized to clear debris from the roads.
The Air Force, Indian Army, DG Police, and Jammu and Kashmir Police are all involved. Today, the services of BRO are enlisted, equipped with machinery to clear debris off the roads. Efforts continue relentlessly, and the government is ensuring no resources are spared.”
The flash flood has not only resulted in loss of life but also severely impacted numerous homes and properties. Relief materials, medical assistance, and essential support are being continuously supplied.
