Terrorists Open Fire on Passenger Van in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 50 Killed in Attack

In a terrorist assault, 50 souls were taken and dozens, including a police officer, sustained injuries. As the passenger van passed by Ochut Kali and Manduri, terrorists lying in ambush began firing indiscriminately at it. The van was en route from Parachinar to Peshawar.

A harrowing terrorist attack has struck in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Reports indicate that 50 lives have been tragically taken in this act of terror, which targeted a passenger van in the Lower Kurram area. A police officer and numerous individuals, including women, were injured in this violent act.

According to an AFP report, the assault led to the loss of 50 lives. As the passenger van moved past Ochut Kali and Manduri in Lower Kurram, terrorists, hidden in wait, launched a relentless barrage of bullets. The ill-fated van was traveling from Parachinar to Peshawar during the attack.

Pakistan news agency Dawn confirmed the tragic incident as reported by Dr. Ghiyur Hussain, a representative at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Alizai.

Authorities disclosed that 14 of the deceased could not be identified due to the absence of identification documents; efforts to contact their relatives are ongoing.

President Zardari Condemns the Attack Strongly

Meanwhile, Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari has condemned this crime vehemently and extended his condolences to the bereaved families of the victims.

PPP Demands Firm Action

In a post on X, the PPP condemned the attack on defenseless passengers as cowardly and inhumane. The party insisted the perpetrators be held accountable and demanded urgent medical aid for the injured victims.

Among the Deceased: A Woman and a Child

According to Reuters, North Waziristan Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry confirmed that the deceased in Kurram included a woman and a child. He described the event as a major tragedy with fears that the death toll might rise. As yet, no group has claimed responsibility for this heinous act. A local Parachinar resident, Ziarat Hussain, disclosed that there were two convoys of passenger vehicles, one heading from Peshawar to Parachinar and another returning, when armed assailants attacked. His relatives were among those traveling from Peshawar.
