On Saturday, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei delivered a vehement critique of the United States and President Donald Trump. He accused Trump of being responsible for the deaths, damage, and disrepute faced by Iran, calling him a 'criminal'. Khamenei charged that the recent unrest within Iran was an American conspiracy, emphasizing his commitment to not let Iran be dragged into war.
'No Leniency for Protesters'
According to local media 'Iran International', Khamenei stated, 'The American President has inflicted harm upon the Iranian nation and for that, he is deemed a criminal.' He noted that the Iranian government would exercise restraint at the state level, however, those responsible for the violence would meet no leniency.
Khamenei asserted, 'The nation will not be plunged into war, but domestic and international criminals will indeed face punishment.' He described the recent protests as being sponsored by foreign powers and asserted that the entire unrest was a plot devised by America with the aim to take control over Iran.
Khamenei Targets Trump Directly
The Iranian Supreme Leader directly accused Donald Trump, stating that Trump interfered with the unrest, made statements, incited troublemakers, and even suggested that they would receive military support.
The Supreme Leader also accused the American President of portraying the vandals as representatives of the Iranian populace. He remarked that just as the Iranian people crushed the riots, so too would the domestic and international conspirators behind them be thwarted.
