Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to Jammu-Kashmir culminated in a rallying speech at Srinagar's Bakshi Stadium, where he unveiled developmental projects amounting to over ₹6,400 Crores and addressed the Kashmiri citizens. During his public address in Srinagar, PM Modi interacted with local Kashmiri youths running innovative businesses. He conversed with a young man who had ventured into honey production and a young woman managing a bakery. Nazim shared with the PM that he started his beekeeping business with just two boxes on his home's rooftop while he was in the 10th grade.
After substantial government assistance in 2018 and 2019, including a subsidy for 25 bee boxes, Nazim produced 75 kilograms of honey and earned ₹60,000. Progressively, he increased his bee boxes to 200. With further government aid, he established his own website.
Nazim proudly stated that since creating his website, he has sold 5,000 KG of honey and with continued growth, he now manages 2,000 bee boxes. This journey has not been solitary; he brought along 100 other youths into the business. Nazim's collective approach paid off, and in 2023, he achieved a successful FTO partnership. He emphasized that after the FTO, financial worries in the business have been mitigated, leading to earnings of up to ₹1 lakh per market stall.
Nazim expressed gratitude for the digital revolution in India, which has facilitated 98% of payments to be made digitally, moving away from the hassle of carrying cash. He and his venture have progressed alongside the country, and he thanked the nation for this advancement.
'I Followed My Heart, Not My Family's Wishes'
Following the recount of his story, PM Modi inquired about Nazim's dreams during his school days. Nazim revealed that he chose to follow his heart's calling despite his family's aspirations for him to become a doctor or engineer. Captivated by his ambition, PM Modi granted Nazim's request for a selfie. He assured Nazim that he would instruct the SPG to facilitate their memorable selfie.
After the meeting with PM Modi, Nazim expressed his gratitude and urged other youths to strive and advance in their endeavors.
PM Modi Shares the Selfie
PM Modi shared the selfie with Nazim on his official social media, captioning it, 'A memorable selfie with my friend Nazim. His work impressed me. It was a pleasure meeting him and I wish him the best in his future endeavours.'
