A woman, whose skeleton was unearthed from the DM residence's grounds in Kanpur, had been reported missing by her family four months ago. The gym trainer had murdered and buried her four months prior and then went into hiding. The woman had been attending the gym regularly for workouts under the same trainer with whom she was romantically involved, and subsequently grew upset upon learning of his impending marriage to another.
The deceased was Ekta Gupta, aged 32. Her spouse Rahul Gupta recounts that she had frequented a gym in the Green Park area for the past 3-4 years. On June 24, she left for the gym at her usual time of 5:30 in the morning but never returned. Despite Rahul filing an accusation against the gym trainer for abduction, police proposed she had absconded voluntarily. The investigation persisted, leading to the grim discovery of her remains in the DM’s residence area.
The Gupta family questions how ordinary citizens can feel secure if such zones with stringent security can be compromised. The gym trainer was no stranger to this vicinity, frequently visiting for badminton, thus being privy to its layout. Given this familiarity, he chose this location because a five-foot hole wouldn’t be easy to excavate in just a day. Businessman Rahul Gupta shares that they have two children—a 12-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son.
