A dramatic scene unfolded outside the Kanpur Police Commissioner’s Office where the wife of a constable expressed her anguish. The woman claims her husband, Constable Abhishek Maurya, trapped her in love, committed rape, and then married her. It is reported that he has been missing since the marriage, and the police have not taken any action.

She recounted that she was employed at a multinational company when she first met Abhishek amidst university activism. Allegedly, Abhishek lured her with a promise of marriage, only to commit rape. When she confronted him, he reluctantly married her on May 4, 2023, followed by a registration on May 5, 2023. However, he disappeared soon after their union.

According to the victim, Abhishek married her merely to avoid imprisonment and has now abandoned her. She lodged a complaint at the Panki Police Station, but alleges the police are making efforts to shield Abhishek. The woman accused the police personnel of not taking her complaint seriously and mocking her pleas.

With tears, she revealed that she has been wandering relentlessly for four months, repeatedly being denied a meeting with the Police Commissioner. It was only after a significant uproar that she was given an audience and forwarded to the women's police station for assistance.
