New details have surfaced about Vimal Soni, accused of murdering a businessman's wife in Kanpur and burying her body in a pit. During police interrogation, it was discovered that Vimal Soni, the gym trainer, was once 'Mr. Kanpur' and even 'Mr. UP.' He also competed in the 'Mr. India' contest but couldn't secure the title. Thanks to his gym exploits, he had a significant social media following, with many impressed by his height and muscular physique, often seeking gym training from him.
Investigations revealed that Vimal's social media accounts had more female friends than male. After killing the businessman's wife, Ekta Gupta, four months ago (June 24), he deactivated all his social media accounts.
Reportedly, during gym training, trainer Vimal Soni ensnared the married Ekta. The two grew closer, and circumstances led Vimal to murder Ekta and bury her body near the DM's bungalow. Four months later, he was apprehended. During this time, Ekta's body had decomposed. The police recently conducted her post-mortem.
Why was Ekta murdered?
Upon his capture, gym trainer Vimal claimed that Ekta herself was attracted to him. She neither wanted to marry him nor let him marry anyone else, which led to the conflict resulting in her murder.
Vimal Soni shared that before 2010, he won the title of 'Mr. Kanpur' and later 'Mr. UP' in bodybuilding. In 2010, he participated in the 'Mr. India' bodybuilding competition in Mumbai but was eliminated after reaching the fifth position. After this, he returned to Kanpur and worked as a waiter in a hotel.

Upon learning about Vimal's titles, the former DM of Kanpur secured him a job as a gym trainer at the Officers Club near the DM's bungalow. However, he was dismissed some time later for misconduct with officers. Subsequently, through a recommendation citing ties with an IAS officer, he secured a gym trainer position at Green Park.
Notably, on June 24, Vimal Soni murdered Ekta Gupta in his car parked at Green Park Stadium. Before killing her, he sedated her and then strangled her with a rope. Eventually, he buried her body at the Officers Club adjacent to the DM's bungalow.
According to Kanpur DCP S.K. Singh, after Ekta's murder, Vimal fled and worked as a waiter in a hotel in Punjab, avoiding the use of mobile phones as he wandered place to place.
