The courtroom of the Allahabad High Court was bustling with activity as the hearing of gangster accused Sanjay Yadav's case was underway. Maintaining social distancing was a challenge due to the crowded environment. In this context, Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav, while granting bail, offered a recommendation that has become the talk of the town.

Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav, concerned about the increasing threat of the new Omicron variant of COVID-19, proposed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Election Commissioner to postpone the UP elections to prevent crowding in electoral rallies.

The court recommended that political parties halt their election rallies to safeguard the public from the pandemic during the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav urged Prime Minister Modi to consider delaying the elections, emphasizing the motto, 'Health is Wealth.'

The court further suggested instituting regulations to cope with the dire situation, as new Omicron cases continue to rise daily. The devastating impact of the second wave of COVID-19 saw millions infected and claimed countless lives. With the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections approaching, political rallies are drawing massive crowds where adhering to COVID-19 protocols is impossible.

The judge warned that if preventive measures aren't taken in time, the repercussions could be even more disastrous than the second wave. Consequently, the court urged the Election Commissioner to immediately halt election rallies and gatherings, urging political parties to opt for television or newspaper promotions. The judge assured that elections and assemblies can wait as long as lives are secure.

Proposal to Declare Cow as the National Animal

This isn't the first occasion Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav's suggestion has sparked debate. Previously, he proposed declaring the cow as the national animal, claiming that offerings made with cow ghee during rituals could induce rainfall. He stated that cows are the cornerstone of culture, providing milk for khir used during Shraadh rituals, thus satisfying the ancestors. Yadav further asserted that cows uniquely release oxygen.
