Netflix's latest release, 'Jewel Thief', is now available for streaming. Starring Saif Ali Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat, this film had fans on the edge of their seats. Promising heaps of action, suspense, and thrills, 'Jewel Thief' delivers it all.

What is the plot of the movie?

The story begins at the farmhouse of Rajan Aulakh (Jaideep Ahlawat) in Alibaug, where exquisite paintings are auctioned. Known as an art collector, Rajan is secretly involved with the underworld. His piercing eyes, golden locks, and stern demeanor loudly announce his iniquity. During his art auction, Rajan learns about the 'Red Sun', one of the world's most precious diamonds, historically belonging to an African royal family but now en route to India. Rajan desperately desires it to boost his fortune, the first person that comes to his mind for this daring heist is Rehaan Roy (Saif Ali Khan).

Rehaan is a cunning thief, elusive and almost impossible to catch, vanishing within seconds. With nimble fingers, he never misses his target, his mind racing faster than a genius. Disowned by his father (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) due to his antics, he is also fervently pursued by Indian police. Evading capture, Rehaan plies his trade abroad. But when Rajan invites him to steal the Red Sun, refusing isn’t an option, driven more by necessity than choice. Thus begins Rehaan's audacious venture to flaunt his exceptional talent as a con 'artist'.

Hot on Rehaan’s trail is Special Task Force officer Vikram Patel (Kunal Kapoor). The stakes grow higher if Rehaan dodges Vikram, but he knows Rajan won’t spare him without the diamond. Rehaan is ensnared between danger and disaster – will he find his way out? This is the gripping narrative of 'Jewel Thief'.

'Jewel Thief' takes viewers on an exhilarating ride with heists, action, and thrills seamlessly interwoven by directors Kookie Gulati and Robbie Grewal, cleverly sprinkling comedy and romance. Characters are sharp and dangerous, making each scene riveting. Although the narrative is packed with twists, it sometimes strays unnecessarily, a slight flaw. The screenplay is crisp, yet prompts inquiries.

Performance

Saif Ali Khan delivers a brilliant portrayal of Rehaan Roy. Embodying Rehaan’s sharp wit and a cool demeanor, Saif captivates with every finesse and tussle. Numerous scenes showcase his combat prowess, alongside delightful romance with actress Nikita Dutta and touching moments with Kulbhushan Kharbanda.

Jaideep Ahlawat surprises with his portrayal of Rajan Aulakh. His transformation and dance have been buzzworthy, but his aura in the film is mesmerizing, exuding fear and attraction simultaneously. Rajan, beyond domineering, is eccentric. Ahlawat’s portrayal clearly outshines others; it's hard to imagine anyone else in this role.

Nikita Dutta, Kunal Kapoor, Gagan Arora, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda skillfully perform their roles. The drawback, however, is that their characters and relationships with Rajan and Rehaan remain insufficiently explored. More insights into Rehaan’s relationship with his father and the toxic dynamic between Farah (Nikita Dutta) and Rajan could enhance the viewer’s experience. Despite its entertaining essence, such aspects may prick viewers. The soundtrack is captivating.
