The Waqf Amendment Bill, scheduled for introduction in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, has garnered support from BJP's ally, the JDU. Until this evening, there were speculations about which direction Nitish Kumar's party would lean. The JDU had proposed some conditions that have now been incorporated into the amendment bill by the government.

Following JDU's alignment, a new challenge has arisen from the TDP. Despite the inclusion of amendments suggested by Chandrababu Naidu's party, TDP still has not clarified its stance. According to top TDP sources, a final decision on the Waqf Bill is pending, and consultations are ongoing.

JDU to Vote in Favor of the Bill

Nitish Kumar's JDU has issued a whip regarding the Waqf Bill, instructing all party MPs to support the bill in Lok Sabha tomorrow. In a conversation with Aaj Tak, party chief whip Dileshwar Kamat confirmed their unwavering support for the government within the Parliament. A whip has already been issued to all MPs for this purpose.

He stated, 'The Waqf Amendment Bill is in the interest of Muslims, and a few are opposing it for personal gains. All our MPs will steadfastly stand by the government's position. The NDA remains strong and united, and the Modi-Kumar partnership will win again in Bihar.'

TDP's Proposed Amendments Accepted

On Tuesday, all three amendments proposed by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for the Waqf (Amendment) Bill were accepted. The party has issued a whip directing MPs to be present in Lok Sabha tomorrow. However, TDP's position on supporting the bill remains unclear.

Bill to be Presented at Noon Tomorrow

The scenario regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill is now clear. It will be presented in Lok Sabha at noon on April 2. The Business Advisory Committee has authorized it. The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) spearheaded by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will ensure its MPs are present by issuing a three-line whip.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju mentioned that eight hours have been earmarked for discussions, which may be extended with the house's consent. In an exclusive conversation with Aaj Tak, Kiren Rijiju remarked that if someone excuses themselves with a walkout, they can't be stopped. He emphasized, 'Let's engage in discussions.
