During the proceedings in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan once again expressed her anger when her name was linked with her husband Amitabh Bachchan's name in the House. During the proceedings, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar referred to her as Jaya Amitabh Bachchan, which irked the SP MP. However, later she apologized to the chairman.
On Monday, during the proceedings of the Upper House, the chairman called supplement number four Jaya Amitabh Bachchan, and upon hearing this, the SP MP stood up and expressed her dissatisfaction. She said to the chairman, “Thank you, Sir, but do you know the meaning of Amitabh?” To this, the chairman replied, “Ma'am, you can change it; I’ll get it changed for you.”
Calming Jaya Bachchan down, he further said that there is a procedure to change the name that appears in the election certificate and submitted here. He used this process in 1989. They have informed every member about this.

After listening to the chairman, the SP MP said, “No Sir, I am very proud of my name and my husband’s achievements. His name means an aura that can never fade. I am very happy. This drama was started by you people; it wasn’t there earlier.”
