Encounter in Kulgam occurred two months ago
There have been prior encounters in Kulgam, Jammu-Kashmir, as well. Notably, on May 6, a confrontation arose between security forces and militants in the Redwani Bala area of Kulgam, following intelligence on a Lashkar hideout. Joint forces had entered the region and executed a search operation, leading to an exchange of gunfire.
Attack on IAF convoy
Previously, on May 4, militants had ambushed an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in Poonch district of Jammu-Kashmir. The attack, which occurred as the IAF convoy was moving towards Sanai Top in the Surankote area during the evening, resulted in one airman being martyred and four others injured.
