Breaking news of a terrorist attack on army soldiers emenates from Kathua in Jammu, leaving four soldiers martyred. Reports of this assault emerged Monday evening as terrorists targeted a military vehicle. Initially, reports came to light of four soldiers sustaining injuries. Later that evening, it was confirmed that four soldiers had been martyred in the terrorist strike. Four others are wounded and receiving treatment at an army hospital, with two in serious condition.

The site of the incident revealed images of the army vehicle, showing it damaged by gunfire. The clash between the army and the terrorists continues in the valley.

According to sources, terrorists hidden upon a hilltop initiated gunfire on an army vehicle and also lobbed a grenade. The confrontation with the terrorists persists. It's pertinent to mention that the valley has witnessed increased turmoil recently, with ongoing encounters against militants.

Terrorist assault on army camp in Rajouri

Only a day before, a terrorist attack on an Indian army camp in Rajouri, Jammu Kashmir, surfaced. The attack resulted in one army personnel being injured as the militants fired on the camp. Vigilant troops returned gunfire during the incident, which left a soldier injured. The militants took advantage of the darkness to escape.

Shooting in Kulgam

Hours after this attack, another shooting took place in the village of Chingam. On receiving intelligence about the presence of a Lashkar group, security forces reached the area. Exchanges of gunfire ensued. Intelligence inputs had revealed the presence of terrorists in Kulgam's area, prompting a search operation by the security forces, leading to an encounter.

Encounter in Kulgam occurred two months ago

There have been prior encounters in Kulgam, Jammu-Kashmir, as well. Notably, on May 6, a confrontation arose between security forces and militants in the Redwani Bala area of Kulgam, following intelligence on a Lashkar hideout. Joint forces had entered the region and executed a search operation, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

Attack on IAF convoy

Previously, on May 4, militants had ambushed an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in Poonch district of Jammu-Kashmir. The attack, which occurred as the IAF convoy was moving towards Sanai Top in the Surankote area during the evening, resulted in one airman being martyred and four others injured.
