In the region of Shopian, located in Jammu and Kashmir, the brutality of terrorism has once again surfaced. With heavy hearts, we report that terrorists have struck down a non-Kashmiri young man with gunfire. Upon receiving the distressing news, security forces promptly arrived and locked down the area to restore peace and search for the culprits. The body of the victim has been sent to the hospital, where it will undergo further examination.
This unsettling trend of targeted killings emerges even as organized terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir witness a decline. Last year, similar heart-rending episodes unfolded, where innocents, particularly Hindus and non-Kashmiris, were strategically assassinated. Notable instances were reported in areas such as Anantnag, Pulwama, and Poonch.

February of this year bore witness to another harrowing tragedy in the serene land of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, where terrorists executed a calculated act of violence. Armed with AK rifles, they claimed the lives of two members of the Sikh community in the quaint locality of Habba Kadal. Amrit Pal and Rohit, hailing from Amritsar, fell victim to this heinous act. Earlier, in February 2023, the hands of terrorism also took the life of Sanjay Sharma, a Kashmiri Pandit, in the peaceful vicinity of Pulwama. Further, in May 2023, another life was tragically extinguished in Anantnag due to these brutal acts.
