IPS Sweety Sahrawat hails from a modest family. In 2018, she left her job as a design engineer to fulfill her late father's dream of seeing her become an IAS officer. Her father, Del Ram Sahrawat, served as a head constable in Delhi Police but tragically passed away in a road accident in 2013. With her father's dream in mind, she achieved an All India rank of 187 in the 2019 UPSC exam to become an IPS officer.
In an interview with a news website, Sweety shared, 'The journey was not easy for me due to new subjects. My school and college subjects were different. I was preparing at a coaching center in Rajinder Nagar but didn't find it beneficial. After my first attempt in 2018, I went solo, studying Humanities, Geography, and World History on my own.' Previously, Sweety worked in a major Delhi company as an engineer. Her educational background is in engineering, having earned a B.Tech degree in Electronics and Communication from Delhi Technological University (DTU).
