The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Mega Auction took place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. During this grand auction, bids were placed on 577 players, with 182 players successfully sold, including 62 overseas players. A total of 639.15 crore INR was spent by 10 teams acquiring players. This year, Rishabh Pant fetched the highest price, while England's Jos Buttler garnered the most for an overseas player.
On the very first day of the Mega Auction, Rishabh Pant made history by becoming the most expensive player in IPL history. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) acquired him for 27 crore INR, breaking the previous record held by Shreyas Iyer, who was purchased by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for 26.75 crore INR in the same auction.
